Re: Paper Requirement
This letter is to confirm that Mr. Alejandro Mera whom I am co-advising with Prof. Long Lu has met the Ph.D. paper requirement set forth by the Cybersecurity Ph.D. program. The paper, titled DICE: Automatic Emulation of DMA Input Channels for Dynamic Firmware Analysis, has been accepted in the 42nd IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy. This is a very well-known, highly-regarded conference with an acceptance rate 12%. Alejandro is the lead author of the paper and conducted most of the work with some support from another Ph.D. student. This work introduces a novel method that automatically identifies and emulates DMA input channels for firmware analysis.
Sincerely,
Prof. Engin Kirda
